The Golden West College Theater Arts department has assembled a talented cast to star in their upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

Performance dates are November 10 – 19 in the Golden West College Mainstage Theater. Tickets are on sale now through the GWC Theater Arts department website at www.gwctheater.com or through the GWC box office at 714-895-8150.

Starring in this powerful tragedy are Matthew Cobb as Macbeth and Savannah Smith as Lady Macbeth. Jonathan West is Macduff, Matthew Villescas is Banquo, Jay Harbison is King Duncan, Julian Rosenberg is Malcolm with Alexis Cuevas, Kaitlin Lueke and Madison Smith as the Weird Sisters. Director of this production is Martie Ramm.

In a mix of witchcraft, prophecy and murder, Macbeth by William Shakespeare dramatizes the damaging effects of political ambition on those who seek power for its own sake. Macbeth explores the ideals of strength and courage and the relationship between gender and dominance in a tragedy filled with action and adventure. Consumed by youthful desire, we are left to wonder whose ambition is the driving force of the play—Macbeth’s, Lady Macbeth’s or both? Macbeth remains the most mysterious and unforgettable of Shakespeare’s plays. This production contains adult language and situations, and is intended for mature audiences.

The Saturday November 11 performance will be ASL interpreted. Interested audience members can contact the box office to make appropriate seating arrangements by calling (714) 895-8150, option 1, or by email: tickets@gwc.cccd.edu.

The Sunday November 12 matinee performance will be followed by a discussion of the play with the director, actors, designers and special guests. All audience members are encouraged to attend.
