Kelly Ray – Part-Time Instructor

Kelly Ray has enjoyed dancing her whole life. She received her undergraduate and graduate dance training from UCSB and CSULB. During her professional career she has worked with members of the Limon, Paul Taylor Dance, Ririe-Woodbury, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, Creach/Koester, and Nikolais/Louis dance companies. As well as individuals such as Nannette Brodie (Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre), Murray Louis, Joe Goode, Colin Connor, Bebe Miller, Nicole Wolcott (Larry Keigwin & Company) Kay Anderson, Amanda Turner (Fosse), and Alan Onickel.


Kelly performed and choreographed for three seasons with the Long Beach Opera under director Andreas Mitisek. She has performed nationally and internationally with Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre, and been a guest artist with Moving Arts Dance Company and Metropolitan Ballet. She premiered her solo “Drift” at the Dance in the Desert Festival in Las Vegas and again soon after at the Sola Contemporary Dance Festival and was honored by critiques saying her performance was, “a moving solo of self-exploration.” 


Kelly enjoys teaching all ages. She teaches multiple dance styles as well as dance science and pedagogy. Kelly has directed and created several dance departments and dance programs in Orange County.  Her students have gone on to study at Julliard, Tisch School of the Arts, NY and the Alvin Ailey School.
