In a mix of witchcraft, prophecy and murder, Macbeth by William Shakespeare dramatizes the damaging effects of political ambition on those who seek power for its own sake.  Macbeth explores the ideals of strength and courage and the relationship between gender and dominance in a tragedy filled with action and adventure.  Consumed by youthful desire, we are left to wonder whose ambition is the driving force of the play—Macbeth’s, Lady Macbeth’s or both?  Macbeth remains the most mysterious and unforgettable of Shakespeare’s plays.
